Painting East German BTR 60 part 3 (Team Yankee)

We are continuing our Firestorm Team Yankee campaign in the New Year, so I decided to paint the remainder of my BTR-60s. I had 9 left.

I used my air gun and painted the models with Tamya XF-67, Nato Green. Then did some highlighting with Valleho German Grey 830. I also painted the lights white, and the IR light Flat Blue.

Followed this with decals.

I should be getting the following over the next week.

Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder end of the first 5 battles (Surprise Attack) and the plan for next 5 battles (Breakthrough)

The WARSAW PACT managed to win three battles in the surprise attack. NATO was able to push back in the centre.

The Map after the first 5 battles looks like the following

The following is the plan for the next 5 battles (6, 7, 8, 9, and 10)

WARSAW PACT attacks in battles 6, 8, 9 and NATO attacks in battles 7 and 10

The plan is to play on 5 Jan 2020. Would be nice to see Team Yankee players that have not come out yet.

So far the WARSAW PACT has 42 Victory Points. Still shy of the 47 victory points for a Tactical Victory.

Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder Round 1, Turn 1a

It was time to play the 4 and 5 battles for the Campaign.

The match up were Jeff Young (Canadians) vs Serge Carignan (Soviets/East Germans) for battle 5

and Francis and Mike (Canadians, French) vs Duncan A (Soviets/Poles) for battle 3.

Mike has already posted his battle report.

Unfortunately I did not take too many pictures.

The following was the terrain.

The following picture is the start. The Canadians had 40% off and choose to put 3 platoons of Leopards in reserves with a platoon of Lynx. The remainder of the force is hiding behind the hill and in the woods. They have 6 ADATS in ambush.

The Soviets complete a spearhead move and put one platoon of T72s and 2 platoons of T55s in the spearhead.

This picture was taken at end of first turn. The Canadians moved thier Leopard from behind the hill and took out five out of six T64s. (Bottom Right) The Arty sent a mine field on the T 72s.

The following picture was at the end of turn 3.

The Leopard came on from reserve in the next turn and took out all T55s but 2.

The Canadians lost one ADATS, and one TOW platoon.

The Soviets/West Germans lost all tanks. 22 of them.

The was a decisive Canadian win.

Painting Samurai Ashigaru (Test of Honour) Part 2

Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder Round 1, Turn 1a

We will be playing the Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder Campaign for a number of Sundays at the Club.

Each Turn has 5 battles. Unfortunately this past Sunday only 4 people were available. So we played 2 of the 5 battles.

In Battle 1 Mike played Duncan with a victory for Mike (NATO). The battle was an attack from Thuringia to Fulda. As Mike choose counter attack he was allowed to roll to capture the area that was attacked from. He rolled a 4, so he captured Thuringia.

In Battle 2 I played Francis (NATO). It was a victory for the WARSAW Pact. This battle was an attack from Schwerin to Hamburg North. As it was a victory for the WARSAW pact, I also gained Hamburg South.

There are still three games remaining. Battle 3 is Plzen to Niederbayern, battle 4 is Harz to Braunshweig, and battle 5 is Thuringia to Unterfranken.

The following is the battle report for battle 2.

The mission that was played was the Bridgehead

Francis was the defender and had to place all of his forces in the blue area.

He had the choice to spearhead move, but after discussion choose not too. He also had the choice to have one platoon in ambush, but also choose not too.

This is the layout prior to first turn.

The Canadians are all in the blue circle. There is a minefield in front of their position. They have one infantry platoon behind the minefield and one in the large house.

The Soviets with East German attachments have moved on both flanks. My force consisted of T55s, T-64s, and T 72s. Also the Infantry had Spigot anti-tank missiles and I had 3 Storm anti tank vehicles with range 56 inches.

Due to the mission, the Canadians did not have a lot of concealment. So, being gone to ground did not help much. The Soviets opened up on the Tanks, ADATS and TOW carriers and killed all except three TOWs.

The Canadians had no luck calling in reserves and the TOW only managed to kill one BMP.

One the Second turn the Soviets killed the remaining TOWs and advance on all fronts.

One the third Turn the Canadians brought in one Platoon of Leopard 1s, but still only manage to kill 1 T55. The BMPs, T55s, T64s and T72s all advance for the objectives.

This was not a really good mission for the Canadians. Static Defence was probably not a good choice.

The game ended at turn 4 with both objectives contested, but no chance for the Canadians to hold off the Soviet horde.

Next Campaign games should be on 1 December.

Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder Soviet Turn 1 force

We are ready to play our first turn of the Team Yankee Firestorm Red Thunder Campaign.

I have finished my 100 point Soviet force. It is a little hard to see, but here it is.

The battles that will be fought on Sunday are:

Serge(Soviet with East Germans) attacking Francis (Canadians). I will bring the terrain

Duncan (Soviets) attacking Mike (French and American). Need either Duncan or Mike to bring terrain.

This is the first 2 battles. Remember that there are 5 battles in turn 1.

Painting East German T55 and BTR 60 part 2 (Team Yankee)

I had already painted some T55s and BTR 60s but I needed more.

Here is my second company of T55s

and one RT-60. I still have 4 left to paint, but don't need them for my list.

So I am all set for our first campaign turn on Sunday. We are playing the Team Yankee Firestorm (Red Thunder) campaign.

Painting Samurai Ashigaru (Test of Honour)

I wanted to diversify my Samurai pirates a little and learn a little about Test of Honour game. Unfortunately I bought the first edition rules and a bunch of crappy models. I started painting them.

These are some Ashigaru with Yari.

I have 30 left to paint. They are built and primed. I just need the energy to paint them.

Painting Samurai Pirates (Wako Clan)

Mike bought a kickstarter from Zenit Miniatures. They were selling, new armies, the Wako pirates and European Namban for the Kensei game system.

Kensei game

The models were very impressive. The only problem is they come in bags of five with no markings. You have 5 bodies in one bag and 5 weapons in another bag. There were a total of 41 miniatures. So not a small feat to put together.

I used the images from this web site to help out.

Wako an Namban miniatures.

These are some bandits with nagamaki.

Here are some bandits with Yari

Here are the bandits with teppo

Here are bandits with bows

The following are pictures of the Wako hero pack

This is Umi No Akuma

This is Turgot. (Apparently the leader of the Wako)

This is Taiho-Zutsu

Painting Crannogman (Game of thrones)

I bought a box of Crannogman to go with my Stark force. These are really well made plastic miniatures. All assembled. All that is needed is to remove the mould lines.

I used Vallejo browns (Mahogany (846), leather brown (871) for the uniform, beige brown (875) for the arrow, wood Grain (828) for the bow, red leather (818) for the belts. Olive Green (894) for the cap. and Grey Green (866) for the pants. I then used the appropriate Citadel shade to apply a wash on the entire miniature.

I always have trouble with the eye. Painted white then black, then went over with medium flesh.

This is the results.

Some close up of each of the types.

I also painted the Crannogman Warden.

These are the stats of the Unit and the Warden

Should be a fun Unit to play.
