Paint Star Wars Legion (Part 2)

I decided to continue painting some Star Wars Legion expansion troops prior to starting the American Civil War Epic troops. I bought the Republic AT-RT Unit expansion set, the Republic Specialists Personnel Expansions and the ARC Troopers Unit Expansion.

I continued using Sorastro's painting YouTube channel for the AR-RT unit. He had no videos for the other two expansion sets.

These are pictures of the AT-RT Unit

Painting Star Wars Legions

Mike bought a Cone Wars Cores Set. The box came with the following

  • 39 unpainted and highly detailed miniatures give you the building blocks you need to begin assembling your Galactic Republic or Separatist Alliance armies.
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous each pose with lightsabers at the ready, prepared to lead their troops into battle and show off their skills in combat. Both these miniatures are exclusive to the Clone Wars Core Set.
  • Two sqauds of Phase I Clone Troops enter the fight to preserve the Republic. Five carry the DC-15A blaster rifle while two heavy weapons specialists add extra firepower with a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and a DC-15 blaster rifle modified to fire from long range.
  • A BARC Speeder miniature gives your Clone Troopers some much-needed speed as they look to outmaneuver the Separatist's battle droids and can be assembled with or without its sidecar. Those who include the sidecar can further customize their speeder with a twin laser gunner, an RPS-6 gunner, or an ion gunner.
  • Two squads of B1 Battle Droids are ready to crush any resistance with sheer weight of numbers. Seven are armed with E-5 blaster rifles, while two heavy weapons specialists bring either an E-5C blaster rifle or an E-60R missile launcher.
  • One unit of two Droidekas is ready to speed into battle in wheel mode. Once there, the wheel mode miniatures can be replaced by two Droideka miniatures ready to lay down heavy fire on targets the B1 Battle Droids cannot take care of.

Mike gave me the two squads of clone troops, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the BARC Speeder to paint.

I found my inspiration from Sorastro's painting YouTube channel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1lPagaNa88&t=7s

Apparently he has 100k followers. I find that he uses many highlights and many weathering technics. He mixes a lot of paints to get the correct colour. So it is a lot of work.

Here are some closeups

Painting US late war (Flames of war) part 3

This is the latest paint job for Francis. A third platoon of US Infantry. They were in pewter vice plastics, so a little harder to paint. Lots of cleaning prior to painting. On the plus side, they had different poses.

Painting US late war (Flames of War)

I have been helping out Francis with some late war US troops. I had not painted flames of war lately, so was nice to get back into the game.

I did not take individual pictures. So this is the pictures I have so far. Will update them when I get better pictures.

What you have is 5 M3 halftracks, 5 Pershings, 1 Super Pershing, 5 late war Shermans, and 14 Infantry stands.

I did paint another US Assault platoons.

So another five M3 Halftracks and 14 Infantry stands. These are the halftracks.

Painting Dana SP 152 mm Battery and 2S6 Tunguska AA Platoon (Team Yankee)

I bought a box of  Dana SP 152 mm Battery and 2S6 Tunguska AA Platoon. The Dana SP 152 was a slight mistake as it is meant for Polish or Czechoslovakia Armies. I guess I will have to start looking at their lists.

I decided to Prime the models with Rust-Oleum Quick Color (Flat Black). It actually applies really well. I then just dry brushed the model with Vallejo Russian Uniform (924). Added a little white to the Russian Uniform, then dry brushed again, then added more white and did the final dry brush. The tracks were painted with Flat Earth (983), then dry brush with Dark Gunmetal. The bottom of the vehicles have a very slight dry brush with Iraqui Sand (819). I completed the tools with Dark Gunmetal and Beige Brown on the handles (875)
