Each Turn has 5 battles. Unfortunately this past Sunday only 4 people were available. So we played 2 of the 5 battles.
In Battle 1 Mike played Duncan with a victory for Mike (NATO). The battle was an attack from Thuringia to Fulda. As Mike choose counter attack he was allowed to roll to capture the area that was attacked from. He rolled a 4, so he captured Thuringia.
In Battle 2 I played Francis (NATO). It was a victory for the WARSAW Pact. This battle was an attack from Schwerin to Hamburg North. As it was a victory for the WARSAW pact, I also gained Hamburg South.
There are still three games remaining. Battle 3 is Plzen to Niederbayern, battle 4 is Harz to Braunshweig, and battle 5 is Thuringia to Unterfranken.
The following is the battle report for battle 2.
The mission that was played was the Bridgehead
Francis was the defender and had to place all of his forces in the blue area.
He had the choice to spearhead move, but after discussion choose not too. He also had the choice to have one platoon in ambush, but also choose not too.
This is the layout prior to first turn.
The Canadians are all in the blue circle. There is a minefield in front of their position. They have one infantry platoon behind the minefield and one in the large house.
The Soviets with East German attachments have moved on both flanks. My force consisted of T55s, T-64s, and T 72s. Also the Infantry had Spigot anti-tank missiles and I had 3 Storm anti tank vehicles with range 56 inches.
Due to the mission, the Canadians did not have a lot of concealment. So, being gone to ground did not help much. The Soviets opened up on the Tanks, ADATS and TOW carriers and killed all except three TOWs.
One the Second turn the Soviets killed the remaining TOWs and advance on all fronts.
This was not a really good mission for the Canadians. Static Defence was probably not a good choice.
The game ended at turn 4 with both objectives contested, but no chance for the Canadians to hold off the Soviet horde.
Next Campaign games should be on 1 December.
